Marlene Marczewski – Author I am an artist first and now an author. Before that I spent too many years doing nothing. When I became an artist and started traveling it opened a whole new world for me. I was born in Santa Cruz California, raised in the Santa Cruz mountains in the small town of Boulder Creek. After my freshman year in Boulder Creek we moved to Sunnyvale California. I now live in the Pacific Northwest near Seattle. My son, daughter, four grandchildren and great granddaughter live nearby. I feel that my writing and being an artist are one in the same. One uses words and the other pictures to convey messages or emotions.
Living in the northwest makes me aware of the natural beauty of the area. I try to capture that in my paintings. I like to attend art workshops, painting plein aire with artist friends, hiking, traveling, reading and exploring new areas. I have been very fortunate as I have been able to travel to many areas of the world including China, India, Nepal, Europe, South America and many others. Most of all I like to stop and smell the flowers and enjoy the moment. I especially like the beauty of the southwest around Sedona Arizona. When the rain is too much I go there for a little sunshine. Life is good.
My affiliations include signature membership in the Northwest Watercolor Society, full membership in Seattle Co Arts and Women Painters of Washington.
My family is grown now and living independent lives. Now I am searching adventures that are definitely out of my comfort zone.
